Kilimo Biashara Self Help Group in Kiambu Constituency, Kiambu County is registered with social services for social and economic purposes. The group’s main objective is to produce agricultural products throughout the year. The qualification for membership is readiness to use the agricultural space in ones compound for farming purposes.

They received their first loan Women Enterprise Fund of Ksh 50,000 in 2012. They shared the money on the basis of land space for horticulture. The group was able to supply Kiambu market with horticulture products. The idea became successful and they were able to repay the loan. The second loan of Ksh 100,000 was taken in 2013. The money was used to finance the groups’ greenhouse to enable increase the produce. They also continued to support members in horticulture and market was now available. They got a third loan of Ksh 200,000 in 2015. This was shared to members to help diversify their agricultural production. Some members have invested in poultry, dairy cows, fish farming etc. alongside the horticulture. One member of the group has ventured into value addition as she parks assorted vegetables collection (Fakimwa vegetables) for ready sale to supermarkets and shops outlets. The Fund also facilitates KEBS certification.

Members are able to support their families and are looking forward to setting up more green houses to enable them farm easily.
